Connor Curley: Tradition in a Non-Traditional World
Navigating the world of modernity is tough – for people of any age group. Even the most traditionally minded of us are surrounded by economic, social, familial, career, and legal foundations which can leave us wondering: does tradition truly have a place in the modern world? Or is it a thing of the past, valuable only for inspiration and ideals but without applicable place here in the “real” world? Is traditional living and values even possible for us in the year 2026 and beyond?
These questions are exactly the topics I tackle. Utilizing my background in Homesteading and my education in both Philosophy and John Paul II Studies, I approach tradition in a way that is simultaneously applicable to the modern life while also steering clear of mere historicism. My thesis is simple: tradition forms who we are, and there is no society so far “progressed” that it renders tradition irrelevant or impossible to observe and appreciate.
Tradition, John Paul II, Theology of the Body, Marriage and the Family, Traditional Gender Roles, Male and Female, Adoption, American Catholic Land Movement, Homesteading, Producer vs. Consumer mindset, Freedom, Economy of Gift, Military, Catholic Living in a Secular World.
